A Little Bit About Me:
Hi Mustangs! My name is Callie Sommers and along with teaching Environmental Science here at Dobson High School, I am the AVID Program Coordinator, AVID Senior Elective Teacher, and the assistant varsity softball coach.
I am an alumni of Arizona State University where I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, a minor in Transborder Chicanx Latinx Studies, and more recently with my Master's degree in Secondary Education.
While this is my fifth year teaching at Dobson, my passion for education, the sciences, and helping students love learning began much earlier in life while I was an undergraduate at Arizona State University where I helped run the Cesar E. Chavez Leadership Institute which focused on teaching high school students civic engagement, community service, college readiness and leadership skills.
Outside of the classroom I love to spend my time reading, running, decorating my house, playing slow pitch softball, and traveling. I am an avid animal lover and we have two dogs a 6-year old Chihuahua rescue named Marky Mark and a 3-year old Chiweenie rescue named Mona who love to drag me on long walks around our neighborhood.
I look forward to an exciting and rewarding year together!
