Biography

Hi My name is George DeLong, but most people refer to me by my middle name, Luke. I am entering my second full year of teaching here at Dobson High School! I moved to Arizona form a small town in Nebraska after high school to wrestle for Arizona State University. After a season at ASU, I realized my time as a competitor had ended, and I started coaching at McClintock High School, while earning my Bachelor or Arts in Educational Studies. I then followed my lovely wife ,of 3 years now ,all around the country as she completed her master's degree, and had great job opportunities. I was a substitute teacher in both Colorado and Texas. We then decided to move back home to Arizona, and I found myself landing here at Dobson, in the math department! I am also one of the freshman assistant football coaches, and an assistant coach on the wrestling team.

I love to have fun, so you will often see me joking and laughing with students, as we connect over sports and movies/tv shows. I may be fun, but when it is time to work, I have high expectations for my students. In my classroom I hold my students to high standards, and want to see them achieve their full potential.  I believe engagement and active learning are vital for your students learning. I want students to ask questions, and try even if they don't know how to do something.  "Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them." – Bruce Lee
