Welcome to Dobson German Club’s homepage.
The purpose of Dobson German Club is to foster an appreciation of the German language and German-speaking cultures. Everyone is welcome to join our club. However, most of our members are students in German class here at Dobson, or friends of students in German class.
Dobson German Club has its own T-Shirt, designed by former students in the club. Over the past 12 years we have had 4 different designs. The current design was created a couple of years ago by our then-president. The shirt features the colors of the German flag: black, red and yellow (officially gold), and has the fairy tale castle “Neuschwanstein” on the back.
Past Dobson German Club activities have included 4 trips to the opera in downtown Phoenix to attend operas written by German and Austrian (Mozart) composers. Every year we go out to eat at a local German restaurant – in December and again in April – for an authentic cultural experience. For 8 years in a row we celebrated “Mocktoberfest” at lunch on the November late-start day. Club members helped the cafeteria workers and served Bratwurst, sauerkraut and potato salad, while entertaining the students with music, such as Oompah music and Rammstein and Oomph.
Dobson German club is sponsored by “Frau” Britton and meets every other Thursday after school in room B305. Willkommen in Dobson Deutschklub!
