Although I grew up in Oklahoma, I have lived in the Dobson Community for the past 30 years. My children have all attended Mesa Public Schools and two of them are Dobson Alumni. I am married with 5 grown children (plus 2 wonderful son-in-laws), 5 grandchildren, 5 small dogs, 2 birds, fish (both fresh and saltwater), and a leopard gecko.
I received my bachelors degree from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!), and two degrees from Grand Canyon University; a M.Ed. In Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Technology, and a M.Ed in Educational Administration. I am proud to be a National Board Certified Teacher Math Teacher and I currently serve on the NBCT board for Mesa. I am also "Highly Qualified" to teach high school Mathematics, English Language Arts, and Economics.
I am so excited to start my 2nd year at Dobson High School, 20th year working for Mesa Public Schools. Not only do I live in the Dobson area, I have spent almost my entire career working teaching in this area. I spent my first two years at Powell Jr High teaching math, ten years teaching math and science at Rhodes Jr. High, and six years as the program facilitator for the FLEX lab at East Valley Academy (the old Powell Campus). I joined the Dobson Mustangs in August of 2019 and currently have the privilege of teaching Algebra 2 and Personal Finance.
In our "free" time my husband and I love to travel and spend time with the grandchildren. We have been on several cruises and look forward to when things are back to “normal” so we can start planning our next adventure. I am a life-long learner who loves to read and research new teaching strategies but never seem to find enough time. One of my goals for this year is to find more time to exercise!
I welcome email and phone calls from parents. I would love to hear from you any time!
