Math Items Found on a Teacher's Desk

I am looking forward to my ninth year of teaching at Dobson High School. Having been a teacher for 28 years, I have taught at all grade levels from 1st through 12th, with the greatest number of years spent teaching at the junior high level (12 years).

In regard to educational background, I hold a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, a Masters degree in Education, Elementary Education certification, Secondary Education certification in mathematics, an English as a Second Language endorsement, and a Reading Specialist endorsement. When initially graduating from ASU as a business major, I went to work for State Farm Insurance Companies as a Commercial Insurance Underwriter. After several years of underwriting insurance risks, I discovered that business was not the area in which I wanted to stay for the remainder of my life, so I re-entered college to pursue a career in Education.

The professional organizations to which I belong include: Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi International Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society, Golden Key International Honor Society, and Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

My greatest professional accomplishments have been receiving a nomination for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science teaching in 2008 and earning the 2006 Rodel Exemplary Teacher Award while teaching within the Murphy School District. This award was especially meaningful to me since I was the first and only teacher in the Murphy School District to have ever received such an honor to this day. The Rodel Award also provided me with the opportunity and responsibility of mentoring 6 Rodel Promising Student Teachers from 2006 - 2009.

I am very much looking forward to teaching juniors and seniors this year. If you should have any questions or concerns regarding your student's progress, please feel free to contact me by phone or email.
