I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where I was fortunate to receive an excellent education from many wonderful teachers throughout my K-12 years.  My junior and high school teachers had a very strong impact on who I have become, and I owe my thanks to all of them for leading me forward on the path of teaching.

My higher educational background began with a B.A. in English from Colorado State University, where my love for English was greatly developed, particularly in my study of Shakespeare (thanks to Shakespeare Professor Dr. Richard Henze!), as well as Humanities, Philosophy, and Women's Studies.  After receiving my B.A., I attended graduate school at ASU where I completed a Master's Thesis in English Literature and earned my certification to teach high school English.  I have also taught for Phoenix College, Paradise Valley Community College, and tutored English for students with disabilities at Scottsdale Community College.  This is my 18th year of teaching high school, and my 6th year teaching for Dobson High School.

I am also the sponsor for Dobson's Henna Club, now in its 6th year running.  Members practice henna* and participate in school events, such as the Native American Club Powwow, D-Block party during Homecoming Week, and fund-raising for Relay for Life.  Join our fabulous and artistic school club and learn this lovely art form.

* A parental consent form and contract must be submitted to join the club.

Outside of teaching, I am a writer and artist.
