Dobson High School students and parents,

The 2016-17 school year marks the beginning of a new era of teaching and learning at Dobson High School. All students will be issued a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e to use in the classroom and at home to complete school tasks such as taking notes, conducting research and completing assignments.

We’ve been busy preparing to make this 1:1 device initiative possible. Over the past few months, we have discussed with our School Improvement Advisory Council, learned from other district high schools that implemented 1:1 devices during the 2015-16 school year, and developed a detailed rollout plan. This summer we are providing  significant staff development and training to our teachers.

In the Device  Handbook, you will find device care and maintenance expectations, protection plan options and answers to many frequently asked questions. Please take a few minutes to thoroughly review it. To receive a device, the parent and student must sign and submit the attached Technology Device User Agreement form. You will also have the opportunity to purchase a device protection plan. I highly encourage you to consider this low-cost offer.

Devices will be handed out during Mustang Days August 1-3. Parents aren’t required to attend with their child, but they may if they want. Students will be issued a device if they have the signed form. If you have any questions, you may email me at, ask during Mustang Days, check Dobson’s website,, or attend a parent informational meeting. Watch for announcements about upcoming parent informational meetings this summer.

We understand some parents may not be able to attend these events, so we will schedule additional sessions once school begins. Our goal is for each parent to fully understand and be aware of the expectations, opportunities and procedures related to their student’s use of a technology device for school.

Remember, the first day of school is August 10.

As always, thank you for your support as we strive to help every student embody Dobson Pride.

It’s going to be a great year!
