Unimerica
The Optional Term Life Insurance Carrier for the District is Unimerica (a division of United Health Group). Employees can purchase limits from $10,000 to $300,000 for themselves and/or their spouses. Children's coverage can be purchased in increments of $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000. Unimerica may require evidence of insurability for higher limits. Rates vary based on age and limit purchased.

You may only apply during the open enrollment period or within 31 days of your hire date. Coverage is portable if you leave the District. Spouses can only port coverage if the employee is also covered.

To make changes to your beneficiary designation, you must submit a completed change form to the Benefits Office.
