Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a District-paid benefit for part-time employees and dependent family members. It provides a full range of counseling and referral services regarding marital concerns; stress and job-related issues; child and domestic abuse; and chemical dependency assessment. You and your dependents are provided at no cost, up to eight sessions of outpatient counseling. For long-term therapy or specialized treatment, referrals are made to community professionals and treatment resources. Expenses resulting from referrals are not
covered under the program and are the responsibility of the participant.

Cancer and/or Intensive Care Insurance (pre-tax)
Cancer insurance pays a specific dollar benefit amount in addition to any other benefits received by your health or disability insurance plans. Individual or family coverage is available. Hospital intensive care insurance provides a specific dollar benefit amount should you be hospitalized. (You have a choice of either or both). The above optional benefits provide supplemental cash benefits should you meet guidelines associated with a specific illness or are hospitalized. You can only
apply during Open Enrollment or within 31 days of being hired.

Retirement Savings Plans
IRS laws allow employees of public schools to participate in both the 403(b) tax-sheltered annuity and 457 deferred compensation plans. Both plans allow employees to set aside a portion of their salary pre-tax for retirement savings.

Contributions may be started, stopped or changed at any time. Generally, employees can contribute up to the IRS standard maximum contribution amounts without penalty. Employees interested in participating in the 457 plan should contact Nationwide directly to set up an account.
Nationwide can be reached at 602-266-2733 x25. Employees interested in opening a 403(b) investment plan must first establish the investment account with the approved financial organization, and then complete a salary reduction agreement form.
