Curriculum

The Mesa curriculum is best described as a list of the major concepts that children must master in kindergarten. It provides a framework for teachers' lesson planning as well as a reference for assessing student progress.

Children don't accomplish a particular skill all at once. Rather, they progress through a sequence of steps, each moving them towards mastery. For this reason, the Mesa Public School's curriculum is organized to show a developmental continuum for each major concept.

The following is an example of one major concept within the curriculum of social-emotional development.

Demonstrates self-direction and independence.
