Edison School is one of 52 elementary schools in Mesa Arizona, the largest school district
in the state. We are located in a community of approximately 340,000, just east of Phoenix.
Our school educates approximately 780 students in kindergarten through the sixth grade.
Edison is truly a neighborhood school. Ninety-five percent of our students are within walking distance of the school campus. We have a long and proud tradition of working with our school community in a cooperative effort to educate its children. Each year, community surveys show high satisfaction. Student achievement is our primary focus. We evaluate our students' academic achievement in many ways; daily school work, homework, formative and summative assessments, pre and post-tests, writing samples, the Stanford Achievement Test, the State AIMS test and district tests in both reading and math. Each year our students score at or above potential in all academic areas. Our dedicated staff offers a diverse curriculum including; reading, math, written communication, social studies, health, science, physical education, art, music, and library skills. This curriculum is presented using district adopted textbooks, as well as special curriculum materials that include: The Renaissance School Programs, the Waterford Early Reading Program, The Success For All Program, as well as a wide variety of technology options, including our own television studio. The Edison team holds children's needs as their top priority. Our belief is that significant learning does not take place without an atmosphere of warmth, caring, and high expectations. Parents and community members are always welcome at Edison and we look forward to working with you in a positive and cooperative manner to provide the best education for Edison's students. Sincerely, Howard Paley Principal |
