Edison staff have traveled each summer to Sacramento, CA to learn how to develop the AVID program for the elementary level. Edison has 17 staff members certified for AVID Elementary. This is a system for developing student readiness for success at the college level. We have purchased agendas, binders, pencil pouches and will work to align practices to get all of our students college and career ready.
Westwood is a demo school for AVID and nationally recognized. Kino will have a much larger set of incoming students in the future to vie for spots in the program. It is currently an elective class at the secondary level.
WICOR – Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading
ALEKS is a math support program that allows students to follow a unique learning path to building skills across the curriculum. Students work in multiple math content areas to practice lessons and solve problems. We use this program in grades 3-6.
Spatial-Temporal (ST) Math®
ST Math- This program teaches problem solving and spatial reasoning through a math based, computer program. Students develop higher order thinking skills by completing the tasks given them for their character – JiJi the penguin. ST- = spatial-temporal California University System program
