Welcome to 6th grade

Biography:

Hello and welcome to 6th grade!  I have worked around Edison Elementary for many years, so I may look familiar.  I love when students look at me and say, "Didn't you used to work in a younger grade?" or "Do you remember my brother?"  Yes, I have worked at Edison in different jobs for about the last 24 years.

I started my Edison career as a volunteer in Mrs. Park's classroom running photocopies for her students.  My son convinced me that I should work at the school as "one of those ladies with boxes."  He wasn't sure what they did, but he thought they looked really cool carrying around those boxes, so I called the school office to ask about the job. I was hired as a Title I Aide to work with fourth grade students on improving their reading skills. I bought a book box and became one of the cool ladies!  Years later, I worked as the Aide in Edison's computer lab teaching students how to animate their PowerPoint presentations or build name bugs.  It was there in the lab where I decided to go back to school so I could become a full-time teacher. I had a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado Women's College where I studied chemistry, and had worked as an engineer in the semiconductor industry. I went back to school to earn a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix, and eagerly moved into MY classroom in August 2005!
