Google Classroom: An Introduction - Now available in ERO:

Two face-to-face sessions of this course will be taking place - one on Tuesday, Feb. 6th and the other on Thursday, Feb. 15th. These sessions will be held in the Educational Technology Conference Room at 549 N. Stapley Dr. Building 1. Each session runs 75 minutes. Only enroll in one session. 
   
If you already feel comfortable with Google Classroom and don't need an introduction to this platform, you may want to consider signing up for one of our GoogleClassroom online courses. Google Classroom: Beyond the Basics and Google Classroom: Streamlining the Workflow are both available for sign up on the ERO. These two courses, which are fully online and self-paced, are designed to take 75 minutes each to complete, with all coursework due on March 9th.

Projectors Overheating - We have received a number of reports about the projectors overheating. The cause seems to be the filters becoming clogged with dust. Fortunately, cleaning the filter and resetting the projector (see the troubleshooting guide) will often resolve the issue.  If the filters are cleaned in time, it may prevent more serious problems; we recommend cleaning the filters regularly.
   
Natural Reader converts text to speech.   It allows you to listen to text instead of reading it on the screen.  It's a freebie that you can download from the MPS Software Center.  
   
Rewordify - The user copies and pastes text into a box and it gets translated into easier text.  This could be useful when students are reading something from an online encyclopedia or other websites, and the vocabulary is at a higher level than they can comprehend.

Changing the Default Browser:  
In an initial Windows 10 installation, Microsoft Edge is designated as the default browser and PDF reader.  Many of the Internet tasks we do in MPS work better in Chrome.  Here are the directions for changing your default browser to Google Chrome and the default PDF program to Adobe Acrobat.
   
Coming Soon - Smart Amp Class
Smart Amp brings the whole class, groups of students, or individuals together in a shared space to work on projects, add multimedia content and instant messages.  This is all done using student devices and while tracking contributions from each student so educators have insight into who is contributing.  Watch for the class in ERO.
