Nature Walk 2016-2017
We welcomed the first day of Fall with a nature walk. We used binoculars to observe the scenery on our campus. We found feathers, pine cones, rocks, sticks, flowers, leaves, pennies and beads. The children also noticed many shapes and letters in nature. One child noticed a hole in the wall and said "look teacher a circle!" Another friend found a stick shaped like the letter Y. The weather was beautiful and the children were exploring the great outdoors! The next day we extended the learning by sorting all of our items during outdoor time. The children are classifying objects and using mathematical skills to count how many and compare and measure the items. The children used terms such as "we have more sticks than leaves" and "we only found a little bit of feathers". Some of the children expressed their enjoyment by saying "This is the best day ever!".
