ELAD School Resources
Purpose & Outcome
The English Language Acquisition Department (ELAD) supports English Learners (ELs) from a variety of countries, representing over 50 different languages.
The outcome of the English Language Development (ELD) Model is for students to acquire English as rapidly as possible in order to participate in mainstream instruction.
Our primary goal is to provide support for implementation of the state mandated Structured English Immersion Models to all district elementary and secondary schools.
In addition, ELAD facilitates cooperation between families and community agencies, to provide support in meeting the social, physical, and emotional needs of English learner students. We advocate understanding and acceptance of multi-cultural diversity.
The Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA) is a standards-based assessment that meets both state and federal requirements to measure students’ English language proficiency. AZELLA is used for both placement and reassessment purposes.
