Biography

I have had the pleasure of teaching P.E. at Crismon for 12 years and this is my sixth year as the school-based P.E. teacher at Crismon Elementary School.  Prior to being a school-based P.E. teacher at Crismon, I was a district based P.E. teacher for 15 years with Mesa Public Schools.   I was born in Wisconsin (Go Green Bay Packers) and went to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for 1 year.  I fell in love with the sun and mountains in Arizona and made the permanent move in 1993.  My education continued at ASU (Go Sun Devils)!  I received a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and continued my schooling to earn a post-bac degree in Education.  I have taught elementary PE within the Mesa School District for the past 21 years.  Crismon is a wonderful school and I am proud to be a part of this community.

Our Crismon elementary P.E. program is proud to announce we are the recipients of the American Alliance for a Healthier Generation Bronze award for the 2019-20 school year.  We  have received national recognition for these awards and will continue to create a healthy and active environment for our Crismon community.

Crismon has two extracurricular activities for Crismon students outside of the regular P.E. classroom.                             I lead the Crismon All-Stars after school Run 3rd club.  This is a 10-12 week activity-based club available to 3-6th graders.  We meet after school for one hour every Monday from November - March and parents/families are always welcome to join. Another program offered to our students by the P.E. department is Workout Wednesdays  These activities take place on Wednesdays during lunch recess. During these Workout Wednesdays,  I will be playing structured and activity based games with our 3rd-6th grade students using our NEW Catch kids club recess equipment.

This year our PE program will be partnering with the City of Mesa, the American Heart Association, and Blue Cross Blue Shield to promote healthy and active lifestyles for our students.  Parents are welcome to join us at anytime to observe or participate.

*Due to COVID, all extra curricular activities and PE special events will be on hold until Mesa Public Schools and the CDC are able to determine large group activities to be safe for our students.

   A little more about me...

I live in Mesa with my husband and three daughters.  My three daughters have been attending Crismon since pre-school and we are thankful and grateful for all their hard-working/caring teachers!  We enjoy the outdoors, being active, traveling, reading books, attending ASU football games, watching Green Bay Packer games, and spending time with friends and family.

I love teaching at Crismon elementary school.  My passion is teaching PE, my commitment is to surround your child/children with a safe, positive learning environment, and my mission is to teach students how to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.  I look forward to meeting and working with you!
