Dear Parents and Families:
I would like to welcome you to our classroom page! My name is Ms. Pettitt, and I will be your child’s 6th grade English/Language Arts teacher this 2019-2020 year.
This is my third year at Emerson. It is also my 13th year as a public school teacher and my 19th year in the field of education. I worked as a Montessori assistant kindergarten teacher throughout college prior to becoming a teacher. I’ve taught nearly every grade (K-6) and have served as a middle school reading intervention specialist, but English/Language Arts is my favorite!
I like to think of our classroom as a family and expect that our students treat each other with kindness always. I have high expectations of ALL of my students. Your child will be receiving a rigorous and fruitful education – but to that end, I need your help. Daily attendance, reviewing the agenda nightly, and communicating with me frequently are essential components to a productive year.
I am proud to be a teacher, and hope to involve all of my students’ families in our classroom community. YOU are your child’s first teacher, and TOGETHER we are a team. Expect to be invited into our classroom and to share in our learning. You are also my most valuable resource, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for entrusting me with your children. Thank you for your partnership this year.
Miss Catherine Pettitt, Ed.S., M.Ed.
