Greetings and Welcome to Emerson!

I am proud to be a teacher here at Emerson Elementary. This is my first year at Emerson. I teach 6th grade.

Educational background:

Graduate, B.A. Arizona State University 1985

Graduate, M.A. Northern Arizona University 1994

I have taught my whole career here in Mesa. After graduating from ASU in 1985 I started teaching at Stevenson Elementary in the special education department. Four years later I went to teach at Webster Elementary where I taught special education for nine years. I wanted to move to the regular classroom so was lucky to teach 4th grade at Webster for the next six years. My next change came when I moved to the 6th grade at Webster and taught there for 4 years. My interest in the AVID program moved me to the junior high school where I was lucky to find a position at Taylor Jr. High working in the English department. Getting the AVID program started at Taylor was my primary interest and also one of great pride as the students have gone on to Mesa High ready to start their road to college.

I retired in May of 2015 and enjoyed one year to myself where i went on a few vacations, remodeled my kitchen and took my dog for lots of walks.

In May of 2016, my good teaching friend Lynn,(of Emerson) called to see if I wanted to return to the classroom.  so here I am.  Retired and rehired!  I'm having fun being back in an elementary setting where my career began 31 years ago!

My interests outside of school are golfing, travel, audio books, time in the gym, and taking care of my husband and golden retriever,Ollie. I have two brothers, 3 grand children and many nieces and nephews whom I love to spend time with any time we can fit it in!

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

This year I will be teaching 6th grade at Emerson, but I'm still an AVID teacher at heart!
