Orchestra:

Entz Orchestra classes have begun!  Students should have acquired a rental instruments and a copy of the Method Book for that particular instruments.

4th and 5th Grade: Muller Rusch Book I

6th Grade: No music to purchase – it will be handed out

The Entz Orchestra has over 100 members with four levels of advancement: the Brave Beginners, the Intrepid Intermediates, the Awesome Advanced, and the Southwest Stringers.  The students in each orchestra practice and pass a set curricula of songs, scales, and rhythm charts which are to be completed on a weekly assigned basis.  If they wish, they may pass ahead on these assignments at a faster pace to complete the requirements and audition for the next level orchestra.  The standards are high, but I strive to keep it interesting and fun at the same time.

We offer two 30-minute classes a week during the school day.  The instruments I teach are violin, viola, cello, and string bass.

The orchestra members give two large concerts every school year during the day for the student body and also in the evening for family members and friends.  This year’s evening concerts will be as follows:

Winter Concert – Thursday, December 4th at 6:30 pm

Spring Concert – Tuesday, May 12th at 6:30 pm.

The 6th grade orchestra members also have their annual Combined Festival Concert at Mountain View High School on Tuesday, January 27th at 7:00 pm

On Monday, September 8th, the Southwest Stringers will be traveling to US Air Arena to audition for the Phoenix Suns to perform a National Anthem for the upcoming season.  We will be leaving at 10:30 am and returning at approximately 1:30 pm.  There are only 4 students from Entz involved. They are:

Hanna from Mrs. Pena’s class

Ashley from Ms. Woody’s class

Emily and D.J. from Ms. Shiel’s class.

If you have any questions about orchestra classes please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  I am looking forward to another great year!

Sincerely,

Mr. Richard Worcester
