Speech
and Language Program
The speech/language
impairment (SLI) program at Entz is conducted
a certified and licensed speech/language pathologist (SLP). The speech teacher provides services for children enrolled in grade K-6). In order to be eligible,
or in need of service, two conditions must be met. 1) A speech
and/or language disorder must be present and 2) an adverse effect
on the child's academic performance must be determined. A literature-based
methodology is implemented in direct and/or indirect therapy.
Parents may call the speech teacher at 472-7365 and set up an appointment if there
are questions and/or concerns regarding the SLI program.
SLD
(Specific Learning Disability) Resource
SLD (Specific
Learning Disability) Resource provides help for students who
have a learning disability. Students with learning disabilities
are students who have average to above average intelligence,
but struggle with learning in one or more academic areas.
Instruction is provided through a continuum of services. Help can be provided
through a pull-out model, where students are instructed in the resource room,
using alternative materials, to an inclusion model, where students are instructed
with their grade level peers, using the regular classroom curriculum. Modifications
to classroom work are made as needed, by the resource teacher and the classroom
teacher. How services are provided depends on the needs of the child.
Our goal is to bring students from the level they are performing at, to a level
in which they can successfully perform in the regular classroom.
