Cory Trout is a General Music and Band Director in the Mesa Public Schools system in Mesa Arizona. He is currently teaching at Entz Elementary School, where he enjoys teaching his daughter who is attending as a third grader. Mr. Trout serves as the Mesa Public Schools Elementary Honor Band Rehearsal and concert coordinator. He also stays busy serving as an Arizona state ABODA festival judge in several areas.
Mr. Trout has taught in TUSD, where he was the Band, Orchestra, Choir, Mariachi, and Guard Director at Catalina High School in 2000. He assisted many High School Marching Bands in TUSD, from 2001 to 2005, including Rincon University, Sabino, and Tucson High. During that time, he composed and arranged five half time shows for those various bands.
From 1995 – 2000, Mr. Trout taught at Marshall Junior High in Clovis, New Mexico. His bands grew from 33 members the first year to 208 members (divided into 4 different bands) during his last year there. Marshall Junior High Symphonic Band was named the top Junior High Band in the West Texas concert competition in Amarillo Texas twice during Mr. Trout’s tenure. Additionally, in 2000, Marshall junior High Band was asked to represent New Mexico in Washington DC in the “American Musical Salute” to a new Millennium Celebration.
Presently, Mr. Trout has a private studio in Mesa, where he teaches a variety of instrument and works with many students. His students represent a good portion of the youth symphonies around Phoenix including: Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Symphony of the Southwest, and East Valley Youth Symphony. He also works with students in the “Academy” Drum Corp. Many of the top low brass students in Arizona study with Mr. Trout. He resides in Mesa, Arizona with his wife, Eileen, and 3 of their 6 kids (three grown up and gone). He enjoys spending time with family, serving and worshipping at their church “Real Life”, playing in the worship band, composing music, camping, riding motorcycles/quads, golf, and other sports. He loves football and regularly plays in Kurt Warner’s “Ultimate Football Experience” in March every year, where he will get to play flag football with some of the best pro football players past and present.
