Welcome to a New School Year!
Dear Sixth Graders of E-1,
Hello! I hope you had a fun and relaxing summer and are getting ready for your best year at Entz Elementary yet! I cannot wait to get to know you, to hear about all the fun things you did over the summer, and talk about the great books you have read. I also look forward to telling you about the exciting summer I had.
Some of you may already know me. For those of you who don't, let me share a little about myself. I was born in Southern California. When I was in the 11th grade, my parents moved to Flagstaff where I finished high school and attended Northern Arizona University. Upon graduation, I returned to California to teach for six years. I moved back to Arizona in 1994 and have been teaching here at Entz ever since. I have taught third through eighth grade in previous years, but I love teaching sixth grade the best!!! In my free time, I enjoy reading, going four-wheeling, traveling, going to the movies, learning about history, playing with my dogs, and laughing.
I truly believe that school can be challenging and fun at the same time. In fact, it's the challenge that makes it fun! I will work very hard at making this school year successful and will expect the same from my students.
What will you do in sixth grade? The sixth grade teachers have planned a lot of exciting things for the coming school year. You will read wonderful books and become fantastic writers. You will travel back in time to ancient civilizations where you will learn about the Early Americas, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and more. You will go on a Space Shuttle Mission, use microscopes to investigate plant and animal cells, and get the opportunity to go on our oceanography trip to San Diego. As if that's not enough already, you will also participate in the World's Fair, change classes among all the sixth grade teachers, complete school-wide service projects, and even make new friends. WOW...This is going to be one GREAT year!!!
I am eager to meet you and your parents. Please come to Meet the Teacher Night on Monday, August 7th from 5:00-6:00 pm. You will get a chance to meet some of your classmates and check out your new classroom. Rest up and enjoy the last weeks of summer. An exciting and busy year is about to start!
See you Wednesday, August 9th (7:40am),
