1. If my provisional ESL endorsement expires before I complete all required
ESL coursework, can I get it renewed?
No. You will have to complete all required coursework, and then the full
endorsement will be attached to your teaching certificate.
2.
Can I use the coursework I complete for my provisional ESL endorsement towards
my full endorsement, even though the provisional has expired?
Yes.

How do I get my ESL endorsement?
- Contact local colleges and universities for information on individual programs.
For MCC/ESL courses, refer to the MPS Intranet. Click on ProfessionalDevelopment,
and then click on Certificated Personnel, and scroll down to Section Four
(Additional Opportunities), click on ESL Endorsement Program
- PARF the class/es before the first class session meets. Mark the section/s
for tuition reimbursement and college credit.
- You will be reimbursed at $45.00 per credit hour, after submitting an official
transcript with a passing grade to Human Resources.

Can the teaching experience gained while working toward the ESL endorsement
count towards your ESL practicum?
Yes. Your principal will have to verigy that you have 2 years of teaching
experience working with ELLs, by signing the waiver form. This form is available

If the ESL endorsement best prepares the classroom teacher to work with ELLs,
can the district require the ESL endorsement?
- As stipulated in the ARS § 15-756(A)(5)..."Nothing in the rule
prevents school endorsement as a condition of employment."
