Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! My name is Justine Pilar and I am honored to be the new principal of East Valley Academy. I have spent the last 15 years serving the children of our schools in various roles including classroom teacher, coach, director, department chair, and team leader. I am thrilled to serve the community in this capacity and my door is always open.
East Valley Academy is home to three unique programs; Direct Instruction, FLEX and Crossroads. The goal of our school is to provide our students with a safe, caring and challenging academic environment, equipped with highly qualified teachers who will support and motivate them to envision and create their future. Each student is valued as a unique, contributing member of our community. We are equally proud of our innovative educational opportunities and dedicated staff. The staff at EVA/Crossroads honors the MPS promise that every student in Mesa Public Schools is known by name, strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and community. We are glad you have chosen East Valley Academy to continue your education. We will do everything within our power to prepare you for a successful future.
I grew up in Connecticut and attended the University of New Hampshire (go Wildcats!). I moved to Arizona in 2005 to pursue my doctoral degree at Arizona State University. My graduate work is in both Music Education and Administrative Leadership. When I am not at school, I can be found spending time at home with my husband, Adam, our twins, Aiden & Madeline and our two Jack Russell Terriers, Lilly & Ponder.
