I am so excited to have your child in my class this year.  I have many exciting things planned already and I am looking forward to working with you to make this a very successful year for your child. I feel that a close relationship between the parents, teacher, and child is extremely important to the student’s progress, so I am taking this opportunity to tell you a little about me.

I have my undergraduate degree in business and mathematics from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota.  After graduating, I worked as an Internal Auditor/Quality Controller for a mortgage company.  During this time I also finished my Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.

I was born and raised in Minnesota, but the promise of warm weather and endless golf for my husband brought us to Arizona 20 years ago.  After taking time off to raise my daughter, I decided to pursue my love of education and working with children by getting my teaching certificate.   I have been with Mesa Public schools for 9 years. This will be my fifth year teaching 6th grade at Falcon Hill Elementary.

I am very proud to have been chosen as your child’s teacher.  I feel that a teacher is a positive role model who becomes a major influence to every student who walks through the door.  This is why I believe it is important to create a safe and secure environment where students can be themselves and take the risks needed to be successful.  I feel every student can learn with positive support and expectations.

During my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, Roger, and my daughter,Katie, who be a Sophomore at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Go NORSE! As a family we love to camp and have traveled almost the entire United States in our travel trailer. I love to read and when I can find the time, my passion is quilting.
