The
Extended Learning Program (ELP) at
Field School is a resource class offered to students who pass state
mandated tests at superior levels. Often known as "Gifted Education",
students who qualify for ELP in Mesa must score in the top 3% of
students nationwide on selected test instruments. After qualifying
for ELP, students attend the class once a week for the entire school
day. Students in ELP participate in a vast variety of activities
ranging from studying mythology to dissecting cow eyes. ELP classes
are designed to challenge students who learn quickly, retain information
easily, and think in a creative and unique manner.
At
Field School, ELP classes are taught by Dawn Knappenberger. The
class schedule is listed below. Selected 2nd grade students at Field
may also have the opportunity to attend "Think Tank" -
a short primary lesson using advanced thinking skills which is taught
most weeks on Friday. This class is not an official part of ELP,
but serves the needs of younger students who have not yet tested
to enter the ELP program.
If
you have any questions about Field's ELP program or Think Tank,
please feel free to call Ms. Knappenberger at 472-9824.
