Welcome to Food & Nutrition

As our Mission Statement states, the Food & Nutrition Department is dedicated to supporting the educational process by providing nutritious, affordable meals to students. We strive to  provide students with access to a wide assortment of foods that are both appealing and nutritious. Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at our schools are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Free School Meals for the 2021-2022 School Year

For the entire 2021-2022 school year, the district is able to provide FREE breakfast and lunch for all children 18 and under through an extension of the USDA summer food service program.

Remote Pick-Up Meals
School meals are available for pick-up on Mondays (school days) near the kitchen at the following locations and time. First day for remote pick-up meals will be tomorrow, Tuesday, August 3rd.

Carson Junior High School | Meals are served from 7:30 AM - 8:00AM.

Five breakfast and five lunch meals will be available for pick-up. Students do not need to be present.

School meals will not be available for pick-up on school holidays (Labor Day, Fall Break, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, MLK/Civil Rights Day, President's Day, Spring Break, and Spring Holiday). Pick-up meals will be available on the Tuesday following a Monday school holiday. Four breakfasts and four lunches would be provided.

2021-2022 Free and Reduced Meal Applications

Free and reduced meals are available to those families that qualify, based on income and family size.  Applications are available online, at school offices,  cafeterias and at the Food and Nutrition Department offices at 143 S. Alma School Road, Mesa, Arizona  85210.

Families are encouraged to submit a school meal application for free or reduced-price meal benefits because this information may be used for other programs, such as Pandemic-Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), Federal and State funding for your school, reduced registration fees for academic tests, free or discounted fees for athletic programs, discounted rates for internet service, and many more.

The application process, online or paper, can take less than 10 minutes to complete. It can take up to 10 business days to process your meal application. 

It is not necessary to fill out a paper application if you have completed the online process.
