Welcome to Food & Nutrition
As our Mission Statement states, the Food & Nutrition Department is dedicated to supporting the educational process by providing nutritious, affordable meals to students. We strive to provide students with access to a wide assortment of foods that are both appealing and nutritious. Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at our schools are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
FREE SCHOOL MEALS EXTENDED FOR THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR 2020-2021!
Now through the end of the current school year (2020-2021), the district is able to provide FREE meals for all children 18 and under through a recently approved extension of the USDA summer food service program.
FREE weekend take-home meals will be available to all children for Saturday & Sunday.
MODIFIED IN-PERSON LEARNERS
Modified in-person learners will eat meals on site Monday - Friday. Weekend take-home meals will be available to all students on Friday at the end of the school day in the cafeteria. No pre-ordering necessary.
REMOTE LEARNERS AND ALL CHILDREN 18 AND UNDER
Full-time remote learners (and ANY child 18 and under) can pick up meals from 7:00 - 8:00 AM at participating district junior high schools or 6:45 - 7:45 AM at participating district high schools on Monday, Wednesday & Friday school days. Students will receive two meals on Mondays, three meals on Wednesdays & two meals on Fridays. Students do not need to be present.
Participating junior high meal locations: Carson, Fremont, Kino, Mesa Education Center, Poston, Rhodes, Shepherd, Smith, Stapley and Taylor. Meals are served 7:00 - 8:00 AM Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays.
Participating high school meal locations: Dobson, Mesa, Mountain View, Red Mountain and Skyline. Meals are served 6:45 - 7:45 AM Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays.
School meals will not be available for pick up on school holidays (Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, MLK/Civil Rights Day, President's Day, Spring Break, and Spring Holiday).

2020-2021 Free and Reduced Meal Applications Now Available
Free and reduced meals are available to those families that qualify, based on income and family size. Applications are available online, at school offices, cafeterias and at the Food and Nutrition Department offices at 143 S. Alma School Road, Mesa, Arizona 85210.
The online application process can take less than 3 minutes and approval can take place in just a few hours compared with a paper application which can take up to 10 days to process.
**It is not necessary to fill out a paper application if you have completed the online process.
