I wish that we were starting the year face to face, in person, and that we had the opportunity to greet each other in different circumstances. I miss seeing children and the excitement in their eyes as they master a new skills or concept. I look forward to hopefully being able to greet you in person soon. But until that time, we will make the best of what we have.
I know that there are going to be times that technology isn't working for us. There will be times that your internet doesn't want to allow you to log in, the computer doesn't recognize your password, or you camera/mic/speakers don't want to copperplate. I completely understand this. Please send me a text message or call me to let me know so that I can note it. When the school calls to verify your attendance, I can let them know of the issues as well. Please also remember, I might experience the exact same things. We are all going to have to be patient with each other.
I taught summer school this past summer and seemed to get many of the bugs worked but not everyone was attending summer school. We are going to face some challenges but will work together to persevere though them.
Please be checking your school email and canvas for important information, assignment as well as the portal for grades and attendance.
Attendance is mandatory daily. Students need to be logging into Canvas daily even if there isn't a live Webex to attend. Canvas tracks attendance. If student miss 2 consecutive days, parent contact will be made. If there are problems, please communicate with me with through phone or email. Together we will get it resolved as best as we can to help your child have a successful school year.
Students are encouraged to practice math facts (flash cards) daily to improve on multiplication and division facts. It is helpful if they have them memorized through 12.
They can also go to www.khanacademy.org and practice any of the 8th grade material. Students use their school email to log in.

She plans to return to Colorado in the next year or so. My other daughter lives in Utah. She is in college pursuing a nursing degree and a teaching degree. She hasn't decided which track to follow so working on both. She is engaged and was to be married in Sept but due to the pandemic, has postponed her wedding until she can have all their family and friends attend. She has two puppies that live with her fiance and her.
This year we will be working in the Big Ideas text book as well as other websites.
I look forward to working with you during the school year, getting to know you and helping you to accelerate your mathematical skills to the next level.
