Biography

Hello Falcon students, parents/guardians and friends!  My name is Jennifer Schwartz.  This is my first year teaching at Fremont Junior High and I am so excited to work with you.  The last 6 years I was teaching choir and theatre at Poston Junior High.  Before that I was teaching choir, guitar, dance and orchestra at Marana Middle School in Tucson AZ.

I am a Native New Yorker. I had the privilege of growing up on Long Island.  Throughout Elementary school I sang in our school choir and began playing the violin.  As I entered Junior High, I realized quickly that I wanted to switch to the cello.  With much enthusiasm, my orchestra teacher threw a cello into my arms and began teaching me how to play.  Not only did I excel in orchestra I also sang in the Junior High Choir and performed in musicals.  In High School I continued playing the cello where I auditioned for NYSMA and SCMEA.  I also sang in choir, swing choir and was in musicals.

I received my BA from Prescott College in Music Education. Next I completed my Masters Degree from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University in Columbus Ohio where I received my MA in Music Education with a choral emphasis in Kodaly.  It was there I received a Choral Scholarship while I completed my three levels of Kodaly training.

Outside of teaching here at Fremont I have a small vocal studio.

This will be my 12th year teaching in public schools.

My students think I should be a stand up comedian.  They are too kind.  Teaching Junior High is pretty fun and exciting. I find myself wearing many hats to help cheerlead my students through these years.

Outside of music, I throughly enjoy photography, thrift shopping, traveling, hanging out with friends, crafting, laughing, learning, cooking, trying new restaurants, making people laugh, game nights with friends and spending time with my husband, pug named Polly and my 2 and half year old son Dylan.
