My name is Laure Jones and am starting my 6th year as a Fremont Falcon! I am a 2-time graduate of Northern Arizona University and am an Arizona native, born and raised in Yuma. My husband is an athletic administrator at Mesa Community College & defensive football coach at Skyline High School. Together, we have 4 children, ages 10-25, that keep us VERY busy!
I have been blessed to have served over 24 years in the field of education. I began my career in education as an elementary school teacher in Yuma, AZ and have taught at every level from kindergarten through college in various schools in Arizona and New Mexico. I began working in the advisement/counseling area of education in 1999 - the same year I entered the field of post-secondary education at Arizona Western College. Before moving with my family to Mesa in 2013, I worked as Psychology faculty at Eastern Arizona College.
I love connecting with students - beyond classes and grades. Through activities, service and leadership, I believe young people have the greatest opportunities to learn about themselves and their communities. Acting on this belief, I also serve as the advisor to our Fremont Student Council. I love helping to prepare our Falcons to be the leaders of tomorrow...check us out on our STUCO page here! I have also coached cheer/spirit line for over 14 years at the collegiate, high school & junior high levels. At the high school level, my Thatcher High School squads won 2 back-to-back AIA championships in the 2A division in 2008 & 2009. *\0/* In 2019, with the enthusiastic support of our Admin team, I helped bring cheer back to Fremont after a 10 year hiatus - you can check out how our return went by clicking here! *\0/*
In my 20+ years as an educator, I have been able to expand my professional knowledge and personal experiences to better serve my students. I am an AVID trained counselor, bilingual in English & Spanish, and I also facilitate professional development courses online for school counselors state-wide in partnerships with AZCAN (Arizona College Access Network). I truly hold to the philosophy of being a "life-long learner" and am continually looking for opportunities to learn and grow on a personal and professional level.
I am here to serve...please feel free to contact me via email with any questions or concerns you may have. I look forward to working with you!
