Programming Overview

In high school, students are provided many different options for enriched and accelerated curriculum.  These options are open to students to elect to participate in the program.  Programs do vary by school site, so it is important to understand and explore all the available options.

These program include:

  • Advanced Placement (AP) courses
  • International Bacccalaureate (IB) program
  • Dual Enrollment programs
  • STEM program

Advanced Placement Courses

Many different Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered high schools throughout MPS.  Course options vary by school, but typical options include calculus, English, biology, chemistry, physics, art, music, and foreign languages. Contact the student advisers at each high school site to find out the classes that are available.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Program

International Baccalaureate offers educational programs to junior and senior students to meet the rapidly changing needs of the world marketplace. Please go the International Baccalaureate program web site for more information.  Westwood High School offers the IB program.

Dual Enrollment

Various community college offers opportunities to simultaneously enroll in both high school and community college courses.  Please visit the Mesa Community College and Rio Salado dual enrollment program web sites for more information.

STEM Program

At Red Mountain High School, students can enroll in Red Mountain High School's advanced STEM program.
