Mesa Public Schools adheres to the philosophy that student services are an essential and integral part of the overall educational process.  The Guidance and Counseling Department incorporates several different programs and departments which all work together to support academic achievement.

The Guidance and Counseling Department includes Prevention Programs, Student Records, the Native American Education Program (NAEP), Mesa Career Services, Elementary School Counseling, Secondary School Counseling, Deans of Students, Diversity Programs, Homebound, and Dropout Prevention.  We also work with other departments on career readiness initiatives and non-emergency school crises response and emergency management.  Finally, we organize Op Shop, the Mesa Youth Summits, and the Phoenix-area National Hispanic College Fair.    


Current News

Mesa Public Schools (MPS) received its first ever Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) Recipient.  B.T. Washington Elementary School was nationally recognized as a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program.  Congratulations to Ms. Christa Peterson, school counselor, and her principal Ms. Susan Powell!
