Each week we will read a story from the Harcourt Trophies collection. Our weekly spelling and vocabulary words will be related to the new story each week. It is very important for students to practice reading for at least 15 minutes at home every evening. Students are free to read whatever that choose. Here you will find fluency reading practice stories that corrolate to the weekly Harcourt Trophies story we read in class. Click Here
Reading Vocabulary
Here is a link to our weekly vocabulary words. You can also fin the words and definitions in your child's binder. New lists are added each week. Students should be able to recognize, read, and understand the meaning of each word. These are words that students will be tested on each Friday, as part of their reading comprehension test. Spelling Words
This is a list of our weekly spelling words that students will be tested on each Friday. You can also find these words in your child's binder. We focus on a different spelling pattern each week. The focus should be on ensuring your child understands the spelling pattern, not just memorizes the words. Students should be able to apply their knowledge of the pattern to spell words correclty in their writing. Click Here
Reading Comprehension Questions
These are questions that will help to ensure that your child understands what he or she has read. They are not the same questions that will be on our weekly tests, however it is good practice to try to answer these questions. Click Here
