In 1993 I graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Shortly after graduation I moved to Granada, Spain to study Spanish language and culture. Upon my return I began my teaching career in the primary grades teaching 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. Over the past 20 years I have had the privilege of working as teacher, Reading Coach, Instructional Intervention Specialist and in my current position as a Title I School Improvement Specialist here at Redbird Elementary. I have earned endorsements in English as a Second Language, Gifted Education, Early Childhood Education, and Reading Specialist. I currently in the final semester of a Masters in Administration and Leadership with a goal of becoming an elementary principal. I have had the privilege of working at many of Mesa's wonderful elementary schools in a variety of roles.
As a Title I School Improvement Specialist I spend the time classrooms observing and coaching teachers, collaborating with the principal to identify school and student needs and to deliver professional development. I collaborate, model, coach and support staff with effective teaching techniques and strategies aligned with the Danielson Framework for Teaching rubric. I am fortunate to have the chance to work with all teachers and staff here at Redbird.
I am the proud mother of four boys, all of which are enrolled or have graduated from Mesa Public Schools.
It is my vision that students learn skills necessary to be successful in the 21st century, and that family and community join in the mission, setting goals and working together to achieve success for all.
