Parents,

Welcome to my 3rd grade classroom. I was very happy to meet your child during “move-up day” and look forward to a wonderful year with each of them. I structure my classroom utilizing small group instruction and tailor my teaching to accelerate students according to their ability rather than their actual grade level. Consequently, my class is designed so that every child will be challenged and provided with instruction that meets their academic needs. I am looking forward to visiting with you during "Curriculum Night" in August. My classroom is room 6 and is located in the southeast wing on campus. At the meeting, you will be provided with a short newsletter and a volunteer sign-up sheet. We do provide all the necessary school items, but often children like to have their own personal things. School supplies could include the following:

Glue sticks
Pencils
Crayons
School box to hold supplies
Black Sharpies (2 for art)
Small pencil sharpener
2 Spiral theme book (wide ruled)
Markers (1 box)
Scissors
Dry erase markers (2 any color for board work)
Note card box (approx. 3” by 5”) with 3 packs of index card along with alphabetical dividers

I am excited about the new school year and hope you are too. I have planned many fun and exciting activities this year so it will be a very positive experience. I believe all children can be successful and I anticipate eagerly helping your child reach their fullest potential. Self-esteem is also an important component of the curriculum and I will be emphasizing this as well. I look forward to working with you as partners in your child's educational experience. I hope that you will be able to attend Curriculum Night August 9th, as I am anxious to meet all of you and answer any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Candy Hibner
