Dear Parents,

I want to welcome your child back to school! My name is Melanie Kight and it is my pleasure to be your child's 3rd grade teacher this year. This will be my tenth year of teaching for Mesa Public Schools and my eighth year teaching at Highland Elementary.

The education of our children has been one of National concern. I join in that concern and have developed my philosophy of education in accordance. I believe that all children are capable of learning and every child has their own unique strength and talent. I look to expand upon those strengths as I encourage my students to grow. I also believe that children learn best in a positive atmosphere and success is reached when what is learned in the classroom can be applied to "real life" situations.

Third grade will be an exciting adventure for your child. I am looking forward to a year of learning and growing with all of my students!

Curriculum Night is on August 9th and I look forward to seeing all of you!
