Dear Parents, I will be your child's second grade teacher here at Highland School. I am so pleased that your child will be in my class this year. My classroom is room 11 which is on the east side of the main building. I will be looking forward to visiting with you on Curriculum Night, Thursday, August 9th, 2007. At that time you will be provided with a short newsletter, a volunteer sign-up sheet, and a list of optional class supplies. I do provide all the necessary school items, but often children like to have their own personal things. The following is a list of suggested supplies if your child wishes to have their own: Bottle of white Elmer's glue Several dozen #2 pencils Crayons Large plastic school box to hold supplies (about 11 x 7) Black Sharpies (4-6 for art; please no red or blue) Kleenex (1 box to share) 2 spiral notebooks (wide-ruled) Markers (1 box) Dry erase markers (2 of any color for board work) Pink pearl eraser Colored pencils Pencil sharpener for at home use only- not for classroom use please Fiskar's child's scissors Durable plastic homework folder with pockets
I am excited about the new school year and hope you are too. I have planned many fun and exciting activities this year so second grade will be a very positive experience. I believe all children can be successful, and I look forward to helping your child reach their fullest potential. Self-esteem is also an important component to the curriculum, and I will be emphasizing this as well. I look forward to working with you as partners in your child's educational experience. I hope that you will be able to attend Curriculum Night on Thursday, August 9th. I am eager to meet you and answer any questions you may have.
Sincerely, Suzie Black |
