Dear Parents,

The first grade team would like to welcome you and your child to a new and exciting year at Highland School!

Our Parent Meet the Teacher/Curriculum Night will be taking place on Thursday, August 9th, from 5:30-7:15 p.m. There will be 2 sessions. The first session will be from 5:30-6:00, and the second session is from 6:15-7:00. On this same day, if your child registered during the summer, they can meet their teacher from 1:00-3:00!

On this night, you will meet your child's teacher and there will be a short presentation about your child's year ahead. We ask that no students or siblings come on this night, for the students have already met us! During this time, you will be provided with a folder containing school and classroom paperwork. You will also be able to sign up to volunteer in your child's classroom. There will be two identical sessions with 15 minutes passing time in between.

The First Grade Team is planning on some great things. Here are a few:

*A BRAND NEW Social Studies unit!

*Several NEW Science Kits!

*Our Annual Pumpkin and Potato Math Days.

*Parent Writing Night along with Family Math Night!

*And of course, all of the wonderful 1st Grade Traditions!

The first grade team has planned many fun and exciting activities for this year. We believe that all children can be successful and we look forward to helping your child reach their fullest potential. First grade will be a positive experience!

We are so excited about the new school year and hope you are too! We hope that you will be able to attend the Parent Meet the Teacher/Curriculum Night, as we are eager to meet you and answer any questions you may have. The first grade classrooms are located off the West parking lot of the main building.

Friendly,

The First Grade Team

Ms. Brennan, Miss Espindola, Mrs. Hultz, and Ms. Waldie
