I am Mrs. Lomazzo, and I could not possibly be more excited to be your son or daughter's 5th grade teacher this year. This will be my second official year at Highland, but my eighth year of teaching altogether. A fun fact about me is that I did my student teaching with Pam Robedeau in 2010. Since then, I have taught 6th grade ELA at a middle school in west Phoenix and celebrated my first year with my fabulous fifth graders at Highland! I am a proud product of Mesa Public Schools, attending Field Elementary, Poston Junior High, and Mountain View High School along the way. Upon graduation, I began my college career at Arizona State University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Multi-Lingual/ Multi-Cultural Elementary Education. I have a full ESL (English as a Second Language) endorsement, and I have passed the AEPA exams to be considered highly qualified in the area of Middle Grades Language Arts and Reading.
I pride myself on being a firm, but fair educator who is always prepared and organized. My goal is to form a strong relationship with each of my students and help their confidence grow at such a pivotal age. In my spare time, I enjoy going out with my husband, friends, and family, shopping, catching a movie, watching a live sporting event (baseball is my favorite), and cooking. Also, I try to get to San Diego each year, as it is one of my very favorite places to visit. I am looking forward to a successful, challenging, and rewarding year. Please feel free to send a quick email my way if you ever have questions or concerns for me. I will respond in a timely fashion. That is important to me, and it always will be.
