Dr. Janet Millar-Haskell
Welcome to the world of gifted education! I have been teaching gifted and talented students at Highland Arts Elementary School since 2010. I service students from Highland and Holmes Elementary Schools. Previously I taught third and sixth grade at Lowell Elementary School, as well as fourth grade in the Higley School District. Before that I worked as a pediatrician for many years.
I am board certified in English as a New Language by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. I completed the Initial Teacher Certification process at ASU in 2003 and received a bilingual (Spanish) endorsement. I also have a full gifted endorsement. After graduating from Douglass College in New Jersey with a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences I attended New Jersey Medical School for my medical degree.
My husband is a programmer. We have two children, a son who graduated from ASU and law school, and a daughter who is attending ASU's Barrett Honors College to study Biomedical Engineering. Our golden retriever, Ami, is a delight as well.
I enjoy sailing, sumi e Japanese brush painting, and reading in my spare time.
