I'm a 4th Grade teacher here at Highland Elementary. I have taught for 20 years in different grade levels including Kinder, 4th, 5th, and 6th. I have now taught 4th grade for 7 years, 5 here at Highland. I received my B.A. degree in Education with a minor in Science from ASU in 1997, graduating suma cum laude, also with an ESL endorsement, and have learned to speak Spanish fluently. I worked as a Registered Medical Assistant before that for 4 years in Pediatrics.

I've lived mostly here in the valley since I was 12 years old. I have one daughter, who is now on her own working as a pharmacy technician, studying to be a pharmacist.

I love to paint, especially murals, and make all kinds of crafts. I love anything ocean and have quite a shell collection. I love to tell stories that teach a lesson, often from my own adventures! I have fun quoting movies and using different accents.

I love to teach. I believe learning and getting a good education is very serious and important, while at the same time, I believe you can enjoy it through the arts and many ways. I enjoy learning all kinds of new things, and then can't help myself from sharing. I think I've always been a teacher, even before I made it my profession. Children are the most fun to teach, like watching the "light bulb" moments, and their excitement in understanding and putting things together.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and having a great year to come!  :)
