To say that teaching is my passion and a calling for me would be an understatement. Growing up in New Jersey, I have had my own “classroom” set up since I was about 7 years old. I could never have imagined doing anything else.

I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Seton Hall University…way back when. Go Pirates!

I began my formal teaching career back in New Jersey where I taught both fourth and sixth grades.  My husband Jim and I were married and relocated to Arizona in 1986.  Jim is a self-employed architect here in the valley. We have one son Shawn (31) and two amazing daughters, Kim (28) and Kris (26). They are proud M
VHS and ASU alumnae. Shawn and his lovely bride, Ani and my soon to be, second gorgeous grandbaby, live here to Tempe.  Kim and Ryan reside in Los Angeles where Kim recently received a PhD in stem cell biology from USC.  Kristina and her husband Bryce recently relocated back to Phoenix where after graduating from the UofA school of Law, Krissy is clerking for a judge on the federal court. She and Bryce have blessed us with our first and very perfect grandson, Barrett.

After raising our children I returned to my teaching career at Hermosa Vista Elementary in the second grade. I have taught  second grade here at Highland Arts for nine years.  I love teaching at Highland because it allows me to teach an arts based curriculum and include a thematic approach to my instruction. After training at Lincoln Center Ed. in NYC several years ago, I now serve on the Highlands arts advisory board.  My classroom is geared to be a brain based, high level and be a rigorous curriculum.  It is a safe place where children are encouraged to take risks. My kiddos are called my “chickens”. We have a very strong bond in our room 6 “coop”.  Our credo is "once a chicken, always a chicken." I feel blessed to share in the lives of these precious children.  I love learning as much from them as they learn from me. It is always such an honor and humbling to have served many families with three or more of their amazing children.

When I am not working on my classroom, I can be found on the beach in San Diego, skiing in Park City or spoiling my grandchildren.
