The
district pays 100% of the cost of Primary Benefits for contract teachers
and support staff. Other employees who are on contract may share the
cost of the premiums.

Benefits
Retirement
MPS is a member of the Arizona State Retirement System. Employees who
are hired on a 0.5 contract or more will be enrolled in the plan, with
the district matching all contributions.
All employees participate in OASI (Social Security/Medicare).
Sick
Leave
Teachers are granted 11 days of sick leave per year. Other employees
who are on contract also earn sick leave as appropriate for their position
and contract length.
Personal
Leave
Teachers may use a maximum of five days of their sick leave accruals
per year for personal reasons. Other employees who are on contract are
allowed personal leave as appropriate for their position.
Vacation
Administrators and contract support staff who work year round earn vacation
time.
Workers
Compensation
The MPS workers compensation program provides benefits to employees
who are injured on the job, including payment of medical services and
lost income.
Career
Ladder Programs
The Career Ladder Program provides incentives for goal attainment of
student achievement and quality service at a variety of levels for MPS
employees. Funding is provided by the Arizona State Legislature and
from a voter-approved budget override.
