Welcome to Room 37 at Hawthorne Elementary! I love being a Hawthorne Hawk and believe that this school has so many wonderful things to offer.
My name is Mrs. Gardner and I am so excited to be teaching sixth grade! I can remember my own sixth grade experience and my wonderful teacher who used to sing us songs about "greasy, grimy, gopher guts" (ewww...). Sixth grade is an exciting year that is full of growth and change.
I grew up in the mountains of Utah. After graduating from high school, I moved to Brazil to serve a mission for my church. I had a wonderful experience living in a new country and experiencing a different culture. After returning from Brazil, I decided to move to Arizona to attend Arizona State University. I have now lived in Arizona for 18 years and I am married to to a very energetic man who is a P.E. teacher here in the district. We have 3 children; Sadie, Jimmy, and Zach.
I have a bachelor's degree in Family Resources and Human Development from A.S.U. and a M.Ed degree in Elementary Education from N.A.U.. I love to teach and I love to learn. One of my favorite quotes is from George Washington Carver. He said, "Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom." I hope to instill in my students a love of learning and education that will lead them to more choices and opportunities in their future lives.
