Biography
Welcome everyone!
This school year (2013-2014) is an exciting year for me as I am now teaching Learning Disabled students at Hawthorne Elementary only. It's wonderful to work full-time at one school instead of sharing my day between two schools as I did last year. Emailing is the fastest way to get a hold of me as I check my email periodically throughout the day.
I hope you enjoy reading about my educational background, teaching experiences and family as I have updated and added some new information.
My teaching journey began in 1986 after graduating from College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Eduction and Elementary Education in Owensboro, KY. My teaching degrees are: Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), Emotional and Behavorial Disabilities (EBD)and Elementary Education K-6.
Education information:
I earned my Masters of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 2006 at Winona State University in Winona, MN. Since Hawthorne is an AVID school, Winona State University is the University I chose to represent in my classroom.
Teaching Experiences:
I have taught in public schools in Kentucky, Wisconsin, Minnesota and now Arizona for a total of twenty-one years. This is my fifth year teaching at a Mesa Public School. Last year I was a special ed. resource teacher at Hawthorne and at Eisenhower Elementary schools; the previous 3 years I was the Intermediate EDP teacher at Lindbergh Elementary.
Family news:
I have four fantastic children. My youngest is a boy and is in eighth grade this year, my next child is a young man who is a sophomore this year, my second child is a lovely young lady who decided to graduate a year early, so she is now attending Chandler Gilbert Community College studying nursing. My first child, who is also a lovely young lady, is a junior at ASU studying psychology and statistics. We also have two chihuahua's whose names are Dora and Bella!
My husband and I have been married for 23 years and we enjoy our children (young adults!) and spending time together swimming and walking.

Please call me or email me with any concerns or items you would like to discuss with me. I look forward to encouraging your children and advancing their learning in the areas that are needed!
