Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)


What is the PTO?

The Irving Elementary School PTO serves to promote close communication between home and school as well as teachers and community. It promotes quality educational and cultural experiences for the children, encourages parental participation, supplements funds for school materials and educational programs, and provides information on issues affecting education at Irving Elementary School, the Mesa Public Schools, and the State of Arizona.


What will the PTO do?

The PTO will work closely with the staff of Irving Elementary School to supplement programs and activities that had limited or no other funding source. Our parent teacher organization is instrumental in funding and/or organizing the following activities:

  • Fall Festival
  • Holiday Shopping
  • Book Fair
  • Spring Carnival
  • Walk to School
  • Teacher Appreciation Luncheons
  • Volunteer Appreciation Luncheons
  • 6th Grade Musical
  • 6th Grade Graduation
  • Orchestra Concert
  • and various awards for the school

Will the PTO have public meetings?

Meetings are conducted once a month during the school year. Additional meetings are called if deemed necessary by the PTO. Meetings are usually held on the first Tuesday of the month. Parents and community members are kept informed of PTO activities through the school/community newsletter and flyers or at regularly scheduled PTO meetings.
