It is truly an honor to serve as principal of Irving Elementary. My journey in education began in 1987, when I became a kindergarten teacher in Washington State after earning my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at the University of Arizona. I have been with Mesa Public Schools since 2000. Both of my girls are very successful graduates of Mesa Public Schools. I received a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership through NAU and became principal of Irving Elementary in 2010.
I have always viewed my position as principal as an opportunity to lead our school to accomplish great things where every child is a learner, every day is an opportunity, and all students will be college and career ready. We strive to provide a learning environment that is positive, safe, caring, and a fun place to learn and grow. My role is to provide our children at Irving with the best educational experience possible – one that will build a foundation for life-long learning.
My belief is that all students can learn, and it is our job to support all of their needs. As educators, we need to discover how each child learns in order to differentiate our instruction to support diverse learning styles. My passion for elementary education as well as the enthusiasm of our staff will always be evident. In a collaborative effort, our children will thrive in all ways possible. At Irving, we are dedicated to improving student performance, teacher instruction and the enhancement of knowledge and skills necessary for working, living, and learning in our ever-changing society.
I look forward to working with you as we create a school where staff is valued, parents are welcome and students are engaged and excited about learning.
