Welcome to Ishikawa Elementary School, Home of the Dragons! We were honored to receive an A letter grade from the Arizona Department of Education for the 17-18 school year.  Ishikawa also received an A+ rating from the Arizona Educational Foundation for the 3rd time in May 2019.  The teachers at Ishikawa are dedicated to their craft, and always keep student achievement and social emotional learning at the forefront. We take the MPS Promise seriously, and strive diligently to know every student by name, serve them by strength and need, and do our part at the elementary school level to ensure that they graduate ready for college, career and community. We encourage our students to show their Dragon Pride always throughout their learning day and focus on being kind, respectful, and responsible. Our theme this year is “Get in the Game - Learning is Sweet."

One method used at Ishikawa that ensures that every student is served by strength and need is our Response to Intervention (RTI) system. Our master schedule has Reteach and Enrich built in for Math and ELA. Teachers analyze data from common formative assessments, and either reteach or extend the learning, depending on each student’s need. Grade level teams work together closely, and often share students during this time, giving kids the opportunity to learn from a different teacher. Instructional assistants push into the classrooms during RTI and assist with the process. This lowers the adult to student ratio and better serves the needs of every Ishikawa student. The Ishikawa staff prides itself on collaborative teamwork, and providing consistent communication between home and school. We appreciate your support and involvement in your child’s education and welcome you to contact us at any time.

We have an outstanding Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) at Ishikawa. This organization supports and provides many learning opportunities for all Ishikawa students. Our School Improvement Advisory Council (SIAC) meets on a regular basis to discuss current issues about education. We always welcome your support and involvement in our child’s education along with any assistance you can provide in the classrooms or with the PTO!

I will continue to do my best to provide a safe and caring environment for your child where he/she will receive a quality education. I respect the individual and unique qualities of every child. We as a school will do our best to meet the individual needs of all Ishikawa's students. Our Mission Statement is as follows: The mission of the Ishikawa school community is to cultivate a caring, safe and motivating environment where students are inspired to consistently do their personal best. The Ishikawa community will work together to become kind, respectful, responsible learners who think critically and achieve at high levels. By working collaboratively, the Ishikawa School community will produce well-rounded citizens who are fully prepared for secondary education, leading to college and/or career readiness.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to give us a call, or drop us an email. If we are doing something that causes you to be concerned, please let us know.
