Biography

Hi Students and Parents:

My name is Lisa Kaupke, pronounced, cup + key.  I was born and raised in Mesa and attended, Edison, Nathan Hale, Poston, Mountain View and ASU.  In my early 20’s my husband and I moved to Coronado, California where we lived and raised our three kids.  During that time, I graduated from Western State University with a Bachelors degree in Law Studies before attending Thomas Jefferson College of Law and obtaining my Juris Doctorate.  I was a practicing litigation/trial attorney in San Diego for 15 years.

I was blessed with three amazing kids, all adults now.  My oldest was a teacher and is now is a Technology Specialist for Tempe Schools. My son and his wife have their own business in Mesa and my youngest, and her husband, live in Coronado. I have two adorable grandchildren.  My oldest daughter, Jennifer, had a baby during the 2017-2018 school year, and Piper became a bit of a class mascot.

In 2007, I moved to Europe, where I ran and operated a hotel and restaurant in the Black Forest of Germany. I lived in Europe for 5 years before coming back to Mesa in 2012.  I am still fortunate to be able to escape the Arizona heat and head to Germany during my summer break

My life has allowed me the opportunity to travel the world and learn so much.  I hope to share my knowledge and experiences with your wonderful children.  Moreover, I look forward to the opportunity to learn with them and most importantly to learn from them.

This will be my third year teaching at Ishikawa.  Prior to Ishikawa, I taught in a behavior program for grades 5-6 at Irving Elementary.   For the coming 2018-2019 school year I will be teaching 5th grade.  Ishikawa is such a special school, filled with amazing students and parents.  I am so excited about this coming year and look forward to getting to know all my students and their families!

“Knowledge will bring you the opportunity to make a difference.”
